Longleat- Longleat House is widely regarded as one of the best examples of high Elizabethan architecture in Britain and one of the most beautiful stately homes open to the public. Bowood House- Something for the kids is The Adventure Playground at Bowood was first opened in 1978. Designed and constructed by Cornish boat builder Alistair Guy, using timbers from the Estate, it has become one of Bowood’s most famous features and has delighted hundreds of thousands of children ever since.
And for the adults fine 18th-century architecture and splendid interiors: the Adam Orangery, the Chapel and Library by C.R. Cockerell, the New Hall, the Sculpture Gallery and the Laboratory where Dr Joseph Priestley discovered oxygen in 1774. There is also a series of exhibition rooms with a wealth of fine furniture, costumes, pocelain, jewellery and paintings on display. Outside, the house is surrounded by ‘Capability’ Brown’s stunning park; there are magnificent formal gardens, a ‘Picturesque’ rockwork garden; and the renowned pinetum and arboretum Link to Bowood House



Farleigh Castle - Farleigh Hungerford was begun in the 1370s by Sir Thomas Hungerford, Speaker of the Commons, and extended in the 15th century by his son Walter, Lord Hungerford, Agincourt veteran and distinguished medieval statesman. The remains of their fortified mansion, built in the most up-to-date and fashionable quadrangular style of the time, included four tall corner towers (two no longer standing) along with a walled outer court incorporating a complete castle Chapel and attendant Priest's House. Norwood Farm Rare Breeds - Great for a day out- some beautiful breeds to look at, and a nice cafe/ shop selling high quality dairy/ meat products, local produce and some other great ethically- sourced items.  Definately worth a visit!

Chew Valley Lakes - rich with wildlife and has been designated a SSSI, a Special Protection Area, and is one of Britain's most important sites for wintering wildfowl. It is a world-reknowned fly fishing venue and is one of the most heavily stocked Trout fisheries in Europe, with specimens in excess of 10lb in weight reported each season. Anglers can chose between 7 miles of bank fishing or one of over 30 boats available for day hire.

Kennet & Avon Canal and Boathire -
The Kennet and Avon Canal is Bath’s forgotten gem. Built in the early 1800’s and tucked away beyond the Georgian facades of Beau Nash and Ralph Allen. Overshadowed by the engineering marvels of even earlier Roman craftsmen, the canal is the gateway to a secret world few visitors to Bath ever glimpse.
